Anderson "The Spider" Silva is no stranger to success. He's one of the world's top-ranked Mixed Martial Artists and has defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight Title against some of the sport's top fighters (including two TKOs against former Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin).
Needless to say, the Brazilian Muay-Thai/Jiu-Jitsu expert has solidified his presence as a dominant force inside of UFC's Octagon. However, it's not just Silva's ability to "Hulk Smash" his opponents that has gravitated Marvelites the world over to watching "The Spider" compete— he also happens to be one of the biggest Spider-Man fans around.

In this age of interim titles and overhyped fights, it’s easy to forget about the very real title fight down the road. I speak now, of course, of Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson. It may also be known as the fight Henderson should have taken immediately upon coming to the UFC, but better late than never.

Looks like Anderson “The Spider” Silva will be wearing that Middleweight belt for some time. Silva had stepped into the Octagon to challenge then-Middleweight-champ Rich “Ace” Franklin amid a hostile crowd, freely booing and jeering at the newcomer. Now, after his first official title defence earlier this month, I think the crowd is singing a different tune. |
